Restaurant & café QR menus
QR code menu you can update without reprinting the tables
A menu QR is just a door. Guests scan a table tent; their phone opens whatever URL you chose. qrcode.house does not host the menu itself — you keep the page, PDF, or ordering link. Download a free static QR when that address will never move. Unlock the same code for $9.99/year when the destination will.
Static is enough when the URL is stable
Many “always use dynamic” guides skip this. If you publish at a URL you control and you only change the content on that page, a static code from Adobe Express, a DIY template export, or our free generator all work. No unlock required.
You own a stable menu URL
If guests always open the same address — yoursite.com/menu — and you edit that page or PDF in place, a free static QR stays correct. The pattern already encodes the link.
The print run is short-lived
A weekend pop-up, a one-night tasting, or a flyer you will throw away can use a free download. Reprinting is cheap when the paper is disposable.
Unlock dynamic when the destination itself will move
After unlock, the printed pattern opens a short link on qrcode.house. We store the destination on your account. Edit the saved URL; every table keeps the same art. That is the flow on How dynamic QR codes work.
The file URL changes
A new Google Drive upload, a renamed PDF, or a fresh Instagram highlight gets a new address. Static table tents then open a 404 or last week’s prices.
You switch hosts
Moving from a PDF to a site, or from one ordering tool to another, is a destination change. Dynamic keeps the same sticker while you retarget the short link.
Lunch, dinner, or 86’d items need a different page
Some rooms swap a brunch URL for an evening list, or park a “we’re closed / sold out” page on a holiday. That is a destination edit, not a reprint.
One unlocked code can cover the whole room
If every table should open the same menu, print the same file on every tent. That is one destination and — if you unlock — one $9.99/year code, not a code per seat. Add a second unlocked code only when the destination is different: a second location, a private-dining list, or a guest Wi‑Fi sticker whose password rotates.
Bitly and QR Code Generator typically sell a monthly platform plan for a pool of dynamic codes, seats, and campaign tools. That fits a multi-site brand. A single dining room that needs one or two lasting prints is the per-code case — when that model wins is on dynamic QR price vs monthly SaaS. QRCG’s listed Starter / Advanced / Professional prices are on QR Code Generator vs $9.99/year, and the two live prices are on the pricing page.
What to encode (and what we do not do)
Choose the URL type in the builder and paste the address guests should open. Common payloads (a website URL, a Wi‑Fi join string) are described in the ZXing barcode contents notes; the printed symbol follows ISO/IEC 18004.
- We do not build or host your menu page. Keep that on your site, PDF host, or POS.
- Prefer a mobile-readable page over a pinch-and-zoom PDF when you can — that is a menu-design choice, not a QR setting.
- Custom centre logos ship with a dynamic unlock; free downloads use the QRcode.house logo.
